Gaining self-confidence can be very difficult. In many cases, children can have a fair amount of self-confidence. This is usually either lost during teenage years, or it becomes even stronger and more prominent in their personality. By adulthood, people range on the confidence spectrum – some people hate themselves while others love themselves. If you’re lacking self-confidence, here are some things you can do to give yourself a boost.
1. Surround yourself with positive people
Don’t spend time around people who make you feel bad, especially if they’re trying to make you feel bad about yourself. Some people will try to hurt or upset you without making it sound like that’s what they’re trying to do. If you feel any sort of negativity, keep your distance. On the other hand, if you’re spending time with people who make you feel great, keep going.
2. Start to like yourself
If you don’t like yourself, you need to start doing it. Once you convince yourself that you’re worth something and should be valued, your whole outlook will change, and you’ll even start noticing how other people value you too. Rather than constantly focusing on the negative things and the features of your person that you really dislike, focus on the good things too. Tell yourself that although you have flaws, you have good points too which can balance it out.

3. Decide what you don’t like about yourself
Some people may disagree with this and believe that you should just love yourself as you are, with all your faults, flaws and things that you dislike about yourself. This isn’t always the case, and it can sometimes help to think about what you don’t like and then think about what you can do to change it. For many things, there are solutions and ways that you can change them.
4. Invest time in your love life
This can really boost your self-confidence and make you feel great about yourself. No matter what your gender, sexual orientation or preferences, having someone who likes to spend time with you can enhance your quality of life significantly.

5. Work towards goals
If you’re achieving things and doing all the things you didn’t think were possible, you’ll start to feel like a superhero. No matter which aspects of your body or personality you don’t like, nobody can deny that you should be proud of yourself!
